New penalties for traffic violations in Lithuania

From 1 January 2017 the Republic of Lithuania increased penalties for traffic violations.

In case of minor violations the penalties increase up to 5-9%. At the same time, for serious traffic violations, such as speeding over 50 km/h above the maximum allowed speed or exceeding the level of alcohol in the blood of more than 1.5 ‰, the fines increased with more than 50%.
