New Toll Rates in Portugal in 2017

Toll rates depend on the vehicle category. Vehicle categories in Portugal are based on: vehicle height (above the first axis) and total number of axis.

Vehicle categories in Portugal

• Class 1 – motorcycles and vehicles with 2 axis height (above the first axis) up to 1,1m with or without trailer.
• Class 2 – vehicles with 2 axis and height (above the first axis) more than 1,1 m.
• Class 3 – vehicle with 3 axis and height (above the first axis) more than 1,1 m.
• Class 4 – vehicles with more than 3 axis and height (above the first axis) more than 1,1 m

How to pay
The toll rate can be paid by credit card, cache or ViaVerde. All road lanes are marked with the relevant road sign signalling what kind of payment is allowed.
